Finding the very best Driving Instructors we can, those who are passionate about teaching people how to drive, providing the best advice possible is very important to us. What's also important is finding people who are a people person. It's an aspect of the job of Driver Instruction that can really set you apart. That ability to communicate on the right level to each individual can really make the difference of getting through to a specific personality. Our Instructors need to be able to navigate the complexities of getting through to every learner driver they teach calmly, clearly and without a hint of frustration. You need to understand that if you are frustrated it's only because you haven't found the right way of getting through to that tricky or challenging student.
With our approach we really want to encourage and support New, Trainee and existing Driving Instructors to become part of our Team. With Full and Part-Time opportunities available we want to hear from everyone who is interested in making being a Driving Instructor their career. We know growing the business will be difficult but we also know our approach and structure is something that should be of interest to all new and existing Instructors.

The £50,000 earning potential isn't a gimmick. It's real earning potential for a working year, 29 lessons per week with 9 weeks off. You have the flexibility to work more or less depending on your personal needs. You will be your own boss and have the freedom to work according to your own personal circumstances. The figures here are based on our current hourly lesson charge of £40 per hour (these are subject to change) and there will be expenses to deduct but we have the expertise and access to information that will help you keep everything above board with HMRC whilst maximising your earning. (This help includes accounting and business setup if it is needed.)
Here are some more examples of earning potential for different types of working week:

Work a 4 lesson day (20hrs a week) with 47 weeks per year = £37,600

Work a 5 lesson day (25hrs a week) with 47 weeks per year = £47,000

Work a 6 lesson day (25hrs a week) with 47 weeks per year = £56,400 (Remember, with earning more than £50k your HMRC liabilities will change.)

Option 1: Working as an Owner Driver you can expect...
A monthly Owner Driver Fee of £100 (Includes signage. No pupils provided.)
An optional Booking Diary Access = +£20 (per month.)
An optional Monthly Marketing Support = +£100 (Cost is per month and can be altered to a figure lower or higher amount based on what you are trying to achieve. This can also be used as and when you need it. Switched on 1 month and off the next)
(We can offer assistance with other areas including, HMRC, car sourcing, finance sourcing, dual-control supply and fit plus much more.)
Option 2: Working as an Fully Franchised Driver you can expect...
A monthly Manual Car Franchise fee of £750 which includes...
A New Toyota Aygo X complete with He-Man Dual Controls.
Fully Comprehensive Driving Instructor Insurance.
Branded Top Box and Door Signage.
Vehicle Servicing (every 6,000 miles).
Diary App Access for Pupil & Scheduling management.
Tyre replacement (1 x per year).
Breakdown Cover.
Road Tax.
Optional monthly Marketing Support = +£100 per month. (Cost is per month and can be altered to a figure lower or higher amount based on what you are trying to achieve. This can also be used as and when you need it. Switched on 1 month and off the next)

What qualifications do you need to become a Driving Instructor in Norther Ireland?
You have 3 tests you must pass. Your Parts 1, 2 and 3. You must also clear an AccessNI background check to ensure you are a fit and proper person. For more information on all the requirements to becoming a fully qualified driving instructor please visit our dedicated page to this subject.
How much can I expect to earn as a qualified Driving Instructor?
It's as much as you want it to be. Typically a week equivalent to a Full-Time job (around 30 hours of lessons per week and 48 weeks per year) could net you £57,600 per year (less expenses).
What are the costs for the training I will have to do?
Our costs are pretty simple.
Part 1: You study for the test in your own time with whatever means you find help you best. We will advise and help in whatever way we can when you need us too.
Part 2: We step it up here with focused driver training. We know what a Senior Examiner is looking for in a Part 2 Test and we will help retrain you for it. These are priced as per a regular lesson at either £40 per hour or £60 per 90 minute lesson.
Part 3: We hand this off to some of the best trainers in the business and let them guide you through the process. Those prices are per the charges of the specific trainer.
With both parts 2 and 3, the faster you learn and adapt the less your outlay for lessons will be.
How flexible are the working hours of a Driving Instructor?
They are as flexible as you want or need them to be. Your working hours are managed by you. You just have to keep in mind you will have overheads including car costs, fuel, branding, diary app access, taxation, etc. etc. so you can work with us to develop the optimum working pattern to make sure you have everything covered and are able to make the money you need to satisfy whatever needs you may have.
When working for Vrooom Driving Lessons am I my own boss or am I an employee?
You are your own boss. We run a franchise model at Vrooom so you have the freedom to work as and when you please. As a result you will have to do your own taxes, open a business bank account, manage your own diary and more but we are always here to give you a hand when you ask for our help. That's one of the biggest benefits of joining the Vrooom family.
Can I train to become a Driving Instructor while I continue in my regular job?
Absolutely. Once you become a PDI (Driving Instructor in Training) and are sponsored by your ADI (Approved Driving Instructor) you are actually allowed to train and work at the same time which can help cover some of the costs that accompany the training. You can certainly continue to work in your 9-5 job if you wish and work on a part-time basis to supplement both your income and your training.
Do I have to work full-time or is there the option of part-time working with Vrooom Driving Lessons?
You can work around your life and as much or as little as you wish. This is something you might want to discuss in more detail with us. There are a few considerations whichever route you choose that will allow you to maximise your earnings and make things easier for yourself.
Can you explain the options relating to Vrooom Driving Lessons fees?
We have 2 options when joining Vrooom.
1. Fully Franchised including all car, dual-controls, vehicle maintenance etc. etc. All the necessary information can be found in the Option 2 box in yellow higher up this page.
2. As an Owner Driver you benefit from much lower monthly costs and as with the fully franchised option you have the option to opt in and out of our digital marketing for your teaching area as and when it is required.
Do I need a Dual Controlled car to be a Driving Instructor?
Technically it is not necessary but it is something we highly recommend. In order for the Instructor to maintain a high level of control over the car these controls are a must. You never know what can happen when you're out on the road and Dual Controls will be invaluable in those circumstances.
