Mock Driving Test FAQ's:
What does a Mock Driving Test involve?
Typically we will meet you somewhere mutually convenient and take you for a 30-35 minute drive to simulate the actual driving test. We treat the process as a complete test but we go to the effort of making sure we catch as many mistakes as possible related to your overall, general driving, your manoeuvres, your emergency stop, your independent drive and your show me, tell me questions. The overall aim is to expose as much as possible to give you as much data as we possibly can and advice on what you need to do next. We give feedback in the form of all your Minor, Serious and Dangerous faults as well as your potential Habitual faults and even if needed a Test Abandonment.
How do you mark and grade the mistakes I make?
We use a digital marking sheet which covers the same things an Examiner will mark you on while you are being tested for real. This gives you the most accurate feedback we can generate.
If I 'fail' the Mock Driving Test am I ready for my actual test or do I need more lessons?
Not necessarily. How you perform might be close enough to test pass standard and with a few minor tweaks you could easily get yourself ready. However, if you are well outside the appropriate level we will also advise accordingly. We don't want you to waste a valuable driving test time and day that someone who is prepared can use.
What do I need to do to book a Mock Driving Test?
Do not leave booking to the last minute. You WILL need additional practice time after completing one of our Mock Tests. Using the Information we provide and working alongside your own Instructor you can improve and make sure you are ready.
We recommend anywhere from 2-4 weeks in advance of your test date. This will give you enough time to make any changes to your driving that are necessary.
Where are the DVA Test Centres in Northern Ireland?
Hydebank (Belfast), Balmoral (Belfast), Lisburn, Newtownards, Larne, Ballymena, Craigavon, Coleraine, Londonderry, Armagh, Downpatrick, Newry, Enniskillen, Cookstown, Omagh.
Will you use actual Driving Test Routes?
Not really. We will approximate a test route scenario specific to you pick up location and the time we have available. Remember, a driving test is not about driving a specific test route. It's about your ability to drive at the required standard on any road you might encounter.
Do you have any information about the Driving Test Routes?
Yes, you can find them on our Driving Test Routes page. They are free to download and free to use and are another great way to help prepare you in advance of your Driving Test.
