What are Examiners really looking for when it comes to manoeuvres?
Is it the manoeuvre or the driving and how well you can perform the manoeuvre you are tasked with completing?
In my humble opinion it's more about how you can control the car a slow speeds, how well you are able to maintain a very high level of observation and how calmly and collected you are under the pressure that arise when another driver turns up and you still need to complete the manoeuvre.
It can all be quite simple. Move a bit, be it forwards or backwards, stop, have a really good look around, start moving again. Stopping is always going to be your saving grace. It gives you a chance to collect your thoughts, think about what you have done, what you are going to next and analyse what you see and what corrections you might have to make. Remember though, when going backwards you should be looking backwards as many times as you can. That's when the stopping comes in to it's own.
It's never about the specifics of the manoeuvre itself. It's about car control, observation and safety.
