This goes out to anyone driving on an International Driving Licence who is taking their test in Northern Ireland.
First.
Please stop booking driving tests when you're not ready and have had no training! You are doing yourself a disservice and a disservice to every learner taking lessons, trying to learn properly. You are booking tests that are in short supply and for the most part, you are failing.
Second.
If you have a test booked, stop calling every Driving Instructor in your area telling them you need 1 lesson and your test in next week. Instructors can't and won't drop everything for you. We have students and are committed to them.
Third.
Driving in another country doesn't mean you are safe to drive here!
Our test standard to pass is higher. Fact. Being able to drive wherever you've been in the world and being able to pass a driving test in Northern Ireland are 2 different things. Take some proper training and help make our roads better and not worse.
To finish.
This frustrates every Driving Instructor & Examiner working today. Your International Licence and the standard at which you drive is really important. It is important on the grounds of safety.
International Licence holders are able to continue to drive on Northern Irish roads despite failing a driving test.
That is mind boggling and anyone reading this needs to understand it! It's DANGEROUS! Period!
Imagine a 17 year old failing their test and then going out driving on their own. Who would accept that?
The age is not the important thing here. Imagine anyone failing their test and starting to drive on the public roads with no licence.
It wouldn't be acceptable even though they have probably had a lot of training and are aware of the actual rules. Why is it acceptable for an International Licence holder to drive on when they've proved they not safe to drive on our roads?
